Spinal Decay

What is Spinal Decay?

Chiropractic care is often sought by patients with spinal decay, but why?  Spinal decay is a degenerative process overWhat is spinal decay, what are the phases of spinal decay. Gallatin Valley Chiropractic bozeman montana an extended period of time resulting from untreated spinal stress. Spinal stress can come from a number of conditions that result in subluxations (misalignment) including; trauma, lack of exercise, poor posture, even poor diet can negatively effect the spine. The degenerative process is broken into three phases.

The First Phase

The first phase occurs when these subluxations are left untreated, beginning with a decreased ability to turn or bend from loss of spinal curve. When the spinal curve is lost people have symptoms that include headaches, neck pain, and shoulder tightness. With the loss of motion in one area of the spine another area must compensate causing increased stress on that joint as well.

The Second Phase

The second phase of spinal degeneration is when calcium forms in the effected joint and connective tissues surrounding the area. This is done by the body to immobilize the joint and keep it stable. This phase may not have any noticeable symptoms to the affected patient.

The Third and Final Phase

The final phase of spinal decay, as the calcium continues to form around the joint they will fuse together resulting in no individual motion. By this time permanent damage has occurred, which is why getting your spine checked by your chiropractor in Bozeman in the early stages is vital to restoring spinal health and stopping the decaying process.
