Is Beer actually GOOD for you!?

Beer…because it’s good for you!

We all know that drinking a glass of red wine a day can help prevent cardiovascular disease, but how about drinking beer?  Can it be good for you?

The answer is.…In moderation, beer IS good for you!!  Reviewing the history of beer, it is evident that beer started as a way to preserve grains and was a meal substitute; literally, a loaf of bread in a bottle.  Due to its alcohol content, many have come to believe beer to be unhealthy.  According to a large body of research, it has been discovered that beer has many health benefits.

Beer has been shown to have a significant protein content, it is rich in flavonoids, contains potent antioxidants, is a diuretic, is high in potassium, low in sodium, rich in magnesium, contains many digestive enzymes, and has significant amounts of B vitamins.

Beer has been shown to reduce risks for cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, anemia, hypertension, dementia, gallstones, kidney stones, and osteoporosis.

Moderate consumption was an important factor in all of the studies that demonstrated health benefits of beer; positive results were negated when consumption was more than moderate.

Moderate consumption of beer is defined in research as 1 beer per day for women and 2 beers per day for men (12 oz bottles in most research)…sorry…that 40 of malt liquor counts as more than a beer, so do tall boys or the 22 oz bottles.
