Insect Repellent

Summer time is here!

Many of us will be spending more time outdoors, around lakes and in the mountains. While we are all excited about warm weather, outdoor play and opportunities to see and experience wildlife, most of us are not so excited when that means we are on the menu. Mosquitoes are happy to dine on humans. Many people use bug spray to combat the pesky little mosquito. Deet is the active chemical ingredient in bug repellents that has been reported to be effective with relative safety for humans; though, many people would prefer to avoid the chemical altogether.

If you are one of the many that try to avoid toxins you may be wondering what is out there for you to help you find calm when confronted with the buzzing swarm of mosquitoes at your favorite mountain lake. As luck would have it, your doctor, at Gallatin Valley Chiropractic, has a suggestion. In research trials, lemon eucalyptus oil has been shown to as effective as Deet for 3 hours; though research shows that Deet is effective for up to 7 hours. So, you can get effective insect repellent that is not chemically derived but you will need to apply it more frequently than Deet.

Your doctors hope this tidbit of information will help you to enjoy your outdoor experiences this season.

Feel free to call Gallatin Valley Chiropractic to discuss your health concerns.
