Pinched Nerve - Chiropractor Bozeman

The term "pinched nerve" is a general phrase involving unwanted pressure on a nerve, capable of causing a number of symptom. Having a pinched nerve is associated with a variety of conditions from muscle or tendon hypertonicity, spinal misalignments, and even osteoarthritis and disc herniations can result in a pinched nerve.

Symptoms can include:

Sharp pain, Ache in muscles and joints, Shooting or radiating pain down an extremity, Numbness, Loss of strength, The feeling of pins and needles, Inability to pinpoint where pain begins and loss of coordination.

Here are some instances where nerves do in fact become "pinched"

Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Sciatica, and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are some very common forms of nerve compression. In these cases, muscle tightness or a muscle spasm, inflammation, or injury to an area can cause the nerve and surrounding tissues to become compressed, and this can result in a sharp, pinching or shooting pain.. Treating these conditions are more involved, but usually respond very well to chiropractic care and will often times involve additional modalities such as Dry Needling, Active Release Technique, Graston Technique, Kinesiology Taping or cupping to decompress in order to free up the nerve from being pinched.

Often times, the sharp pain experienced around a soft tissue area, can actually be an inflamed nerve that is irritated, but not actually pinched. In most cases, these nerves become irritated and inflamed when the joints of the body are not properly aligned, and are not moving and functioning properly. Dealing with spinal or extremity misalignment, is the chiropractor's specialty, and chiropractic adjustments have great results treating this condition.

A proper diagnosis is very important for any form of pain to determine the proper treatment. This is especially important after chronic or long lasting nerve pain, which can lead to permanent nerve damage in more severe cases that are left untreated.
